Sing while walking in circle holding hands like "Ring Around The Rosie". On the last one (Western Roman Empire Falls to Barbarians) every one drops to the floor.
History:
Print out World Map and mark the exploration routes in different colors. Print off ships and have each kid use their paper ship to trace the exploration route on their own map as you sing each one.
Latin:
Present new Latin with finger puppets.
English:
If you have enough hand held mirrors each student could hold one while chanting the Reflexive ("Reflective") pronouns. If you only had one you could take turns holding it then pass it to a friend. Or you could hold it and walk around while singing and hold it up to the student's faces.
Science:
Get under desks or tables (Why? Because it's fun!) and sing the science song. Use different funny voices.
Math:
14's: Write out in chalk on chalk board and use wet paintbrush to let students take turns erasing one number at a time then singing through the 14's each time another number is erased. If you have a white board instead of chalk board use could use dry erase markers and a dry paint brush to erase the numbers.
Geography: Story with Map
My Mnemonic Story:
In Africa there was a man with a cape who had good hope. (Cape of Good Hope)
He went straight to Magellan. (Strait of Magellan)
Together they made a treaty with the tortoises (Treaty of Tordesillas), who took them to see the canaries on the islands (Canary Islands).
What is the science song?
ReplyDeleteThere is not an official CC song for science. You can use what ever song you choose. If you get on CC Connected there are plenty to pick from. You might want to find out what other tutors on your campus are using. :)
DeleteIm just curious why in your map, Magellan ended up past Africa?
ReplyDeleteI think for English it's reflexive pronouns.

ReplyDeleteThanks Crystal. It is reflexive but I was doing reflective as a memory jogger. guess I need to make that more clear. Thanks for taking the time to point that out.
Deleteah I see that now as I'm looking back. Good idea to help them remember. :) I was thinking they could tap their knees as they say them because of knee reflexes.
DeleteThat's a fun idea too Crystal! I like it! :)
